NPO and multilateral partnership

On March 23-24, 2020, the Drug Abuse Prevention Center held the coordination meeting on the development of multilateral partnership in implementing programs to prevent abuse of alcohol and drugs among girls and women.

The event was organized at the “Aglaya Courtyard” Hotel (S.-Petersburg) within the framework of the project “Exploiting the potentialities of CSOs and LAs for development of holistic prevention of drug and alcohol abuse among girls and women in lagging regions of Russia”, funded by the European Union, and the project “Protecting the Future - Implementing effective methods for prevention of substance abuse among girls”, funded by the Presidential Grants Fund for development of civil society.  

Deputy Director for Science of the National Narcological Center, member of the International Narcotics Control Board Galina Korchagina, Deputy Minister of Education of the Republic of Khakassia Tatyana Kartashova, representatives of local authorities, regional ministries and departments, 18 NGOs, the partner organization from Sweden - the Committee of Women's Organizations on alcohol and drug related issues (by Skype) attended the meeting.

Leena Harake, Executive Director of the WOCAD, shared Swedish experience in organizing interagency cooperation. Tatyana Grechanaya from the National Narcological Center presented data from a study of the situation with use of substances among girls in St. Petersburg implemented in 2019. Project Coordinator Andrei Nevsky conducted a comparative analysis of the role of civil society organizations in 10 regions of the Russian Federation in development of gender-specific anti-alcohol and anti-drug policies.

More than 10 participants of the event took part in the discussion on the interaction of civil society organizations (CSOs), local authorities (LA), other institutions and organizations, Elena Petrova (Novgorod branch of the Russian Red Cross, Veliky Novgorod), Vitaliy Garder (chairman of the Khakass Republican Branch of the Russian Of the Red Cross), Andrey Kotyashkin (ANO RC "House on the Volga", Kostroma), Maria Nedobezhkina (BF promoting activities in the field of prevention and health of citizens "House of Hope", Ivanovo), Svetlana Oorzhak (TPO "As psychologists from Tuva "), Galina Knyazeva (“Indigenous Women of the Komi Republic"), Galina Karataeva (RPO" Women of Buryatia"), Valery Khudoyash (ARRO "Crisis Center "Nadezhda", Arkhangelsk), Julia Avalyan (PEPO "Independent Social Female Center of the Pskov Region”), Valentina Polishchuk (Chairperson, of the Karelian Republican Branch of the Russian Red Cross). All the speakers noted the need to involve a wide range of institutions and organizations, all strata of society in countering use of alcohol and drugs among girls and women, improve preventive approaches and services, and put into practice gender-sensitive methods and programs. Within the framework of the meeting, issues of organizing intersectoral interaction in the framework of the implementation of preventive projects were discussed, The participants. got knowledge about the basic principles and technologies of networking. The head of the department for organizing preventive care in narcology at the NNC, WHO expert Evgenia Fadeeva presented a comprehensive program for prevention of substance use among girls and women of indigenous peoples of the North, Siberia and the Far East of Russia. Andrey Nevsky made some amendments to the program.
