Discussion of the project in Ivanovo and Kostroma
On August 20 - 22, 2018, interdepartmental discussions of the project "Exploiting the potentialities of CSOs and LAs for development of holistic prevention of drug and alcohol abuse among girls and women in lagging regions of Russia", presented by the Regional Public Charitable Organization "Drug Abuse Prevention Center", took place in Ivanovo and Kostroma.
In Ivanovo, Head of the Health Department of the Ivanovo Region, Irina Berezina, First Deputy Head of the Department of Health of the Ivanovo Region, State Secretary Alexei Baklushin, Head of the Department for the Organization of Medical Assistance for Children, and the Birth Support Service of the Department of Health of the Ivanovo Region, Sergei Sinitsyn, Head of the "Ivanovo Regional Narcological Dispensary" Sergei Filippov, representatives of the Internal Policy Departament of the Ivanovo region, the Office for Drug Control of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the Ivanovo region, the Charitable Foundation "House of Hope" have taken part in the discussion of the project. The participants of the discussion have come to a common opinion about the need for wide application of peffective approaches for primary prevention and for the development of interagency cooperation in the implementation of preventive programs. The project activities in the Ivanovo region will be provided with the necessary support. Also the meeting with Sergey Kupriyanov, chairman of the Ivanovo City Duma Committee on Education has been held to discuss the situation with the use of psychoactive substances by students of educational institutions and preventive measures.
In Kostroma in the discussion of the project, organized with the support of the NGO "Council of Mothers", the chief narcologist L. Kolobova, the chief doctor of the "Kostroma Oblast Narcological Dispensary" Efremova M.V., the head of the Office for Control of Drug Trafficking of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in the Kostroma Region Sizov DA, representatives of the Departments of Education and Science, Labor and Social Protection, the Department for Internal Policy of the Kostroma Region, the Committee for Education, Culture, Sports and Youth Work of Kostroma administration, the Youth Center of Kostroma, the Center for Infectious Diseases OGBHU, the Federal Penitentiary Service, the priests of the Kostroma Diocese, and the NGOs have taken part. In the framework of the discussion, an assessment of the situation with the use of psychoactive substances by women in the Kostroma region was made, approaches for primary prevention and opportunities for the development of social services for dependent women leaving prisons were discussed. The participants of the round table supported the implementation of the project in the Kostroma region and will support the implementation of project activities.
